This week I will be resurecting my Akasa Eclipse case and water loop for some i7 action,

I need a GFX card.

I will be running two Dell ST2410 and will mostly be doing Video editing and Sound editing.

However I may install some games and have a casual Shoot fest.

Now will a 5770 drive two 24" monitors and will the 5770 run all the lastest games at reasonable FPS at 1920 x 1080?

Its a budget build for the biggest bang so any thoughts?

Will the 5830 be that much faster than the 5770 when the pricing of the 5850 is £218 ?

If the 5830 comes in at 180 then who will buy one? Surely one would push the extra 38 quid.

If its 150 then isn't this to close to 5770 pricing?

What would you do?

Cheers

In DX10 the 5770 should hold it's own no problems but if you intend to try DX11 it may choke and die.

The 5830 is walking a tightrope it seems.

It's supposed to replace the 4890 but no real indication of its performance yet.

If we assume it to be the same speed as a 4890 then we get the following.

Performance:
£120 - 5770 = 100%
£130 - 4890/ £??? - 5830 = 115%
£220 - 5850 = 140%

I think it should land about the £160 mark to find it's own groove in the market, like you say at £180 it'd probably be better to just get ~20% more performance and go for the 5850.

I'd either not bother with DX11 and go for a 5770/4890 (efficiency vs power) or if DX11 is a must wait for the pricing on the 5830. If it's <£170 get it >£170 go for the 5850.
