5770 Overclock?

So i recently brought a ATI 5770 from a Nvidia 9400. I can now run all games on pretty much max settings - so BF BC2 WOW etc. I only have an AMD 2.2GHz Dual Core - will this CPU be limiting the graphics card atall? Also in the ATI Control Centre there is an overclocking feature - is there any recomended overclock settings?

Not sure if a 2.2ghz CPU will be enough to get the most out of the 5770, perhaps look to Overclock the CPU.
Don't bother using the CCC OC tool, better off using MSI Afterburner, as the CC tool is limited were as the MSI tool will allow higher clocks, how much though is dependant on each system, so no way to say for sure what results you can get?

The make does not really matter, they all OC to some degree.
As for OC the CPU, best to do so via the motherboard BIOS, software is not as good for the job.

Ok - so i increase the clock mhz very slowly. Then once it starts to get unstable i increase the voltage slightly?

Thats the basics, but to be honest, if your new to OverClocking, perhaps read a few different guides around the forum/net, to be sure you have a decent understanding of the settings/results and testing methods :)

You need to keep and eye on the RAM speed, as you up the FSB, this will increase, unless your motherboard has an option to change the mutiplier for the RAM. You need to keep your RAM roughly in spec.
But basically, you up the FSB a little at a time, boot into windows and run something like IntelBurn Test, or Prime95, these will stress the CPU and cause the system to fail if it is not stable...
Also run CoreTemp to monitor the CPU Temp as if it gets too hot, the system will fail.
To test the GPU, try Furmark :)

Ok finally managed 2.6GHz with a furmark score of 3900. Is there any way i can see if the GPU is still being limited?

The only way to see if the card is being limited is to keep upping the resolution and speed until you can't get a higher score, anything after that will be wasted I guess.

As for Temps, 61c for the GPU while running Furmark is good. I have not seen a game yet that can raise the GPU temp as high as Furmark does.
What is your CPU temp while running Intel Burn Test or Prime95?

Firstly, your motherboard my limit how far you can push the CPU speed, secondly, your RAM, did you make sure the RAM was running within Spec and not being overclocked?
Have you tried increasing the volts 0.1v on the CPU?

To see if the CPU or FSB are causing the failure, try lowering the CPU Mulitplier Example from 9 down to 8 or lower, then start pushing the FSB up until you get unstable, then back down 10mhz and test for stabilty, again, making sure the RAM is within its correct speed settings.
A lower Multi will allow you to start pushing the CPU speed up from a lower starting point and is just to help find out were the FSB limit is, once you know the FSB limmit, you can restore the original Multi and start pushing the FSB back to your tested limits, but with voltage adjustments on the CPU volts, and depending on your board, you may need to adjust other voltages on the board....

What Make CPU/ RAM and board do you have?

Im already really pleased with the quality of the graphics!! Ive got a lot to go then! Ive got a AMD Athlon X2 4200+ 2.2GHz and a Gigabyte S Series GA-MA770-DS3. It says it supports Phemon and Phenom FX which means i could just poke a quad core into it? The ramm is some crucial stuff. My mobo only supports 800MHz i think. My ramm is running 5/5/5/18 @ 2.6GHz. DRAM Frequency of 230MHz on the Ramm.
