hi guys,
im a casual gamer, play battlefield 3, fifa 12 and gta 4, thats about it, a couple of racing games, i play on max settings on most, with a radeon hd4870. im looking at a used 5770, for its DX11, is it a good enough card considering its only 50 quid?
i was getting a gtx 570 but cant justify the cost because i only play casually, not hardcore...
whats the performance like? good fps?
i was recommended it by a friend but i thought i would ask anyway.
thanks
ste

Take a look at this

As you can see, your 4870 is a very capable card that even beats the newer 5770 in some scenarios.

I would recommend getting an Asus 6850. At ~£90 it is an absolute steal, and you might even find a cheaper used one if that's what you're after. Spend some time overclocking and you get even more bang for your buck.
Check the performance difference here.

If you want even more power, and are willing to spend more, I'd recommend a 6950/GTX 560ti. Just make sure you have a capable PSU.

i have a corsair tx750v2. i only wanted the 5770 for its dx11 really, its very close to my current 4870 in performance, and this 4870 i have is now a gift to my dad as i wanted to upgrade and give him mine for his birthday, as he is still sporting a gtx 8800. lol.
i ended up getting the 5770, it was only 40 quid, a bit of a panic buy on fleabay, ill no doubt get a 7 series radeon in october time. thanks for the advice anyways. ste

i cant see me noticing much difference in performance anyways, its just the wow factor of having a great card i wont have lol, as long as i play on high settings at 40 fps or more, im happy lol. to be honest, i wished id opted for the 6850, but the item ended just before you posted back :/ ah well, i wont dwell on it anyways, im sure ill be happy with it. thanks very much. ste
