Hi.
im looking at buying a pair of asus 5770's very soon.
Just wondering what power connectors they have?.
As my corsair hx850 has a single cable with 2x6pin pcie's but each connector has a separate 2 pin too.?

would the single cable stretch to a crossfire combo?. or would i need to find my sack of modular cables?

regards
Callum

I have a HX620W, would I be able to power 2 of these? I have heard them in xfire uses less power than a single 4890, which is what I have.

I run two in Crossfire with an Enermax Liberty 620w , so.. yours will be fine :)

I have that same PSU, I dont think the cable will stretch to be honest

This has me worried now lol.

Whats the way to do this then?. do i use 2 modular cables... one to power each card, or do i use the cable which is attached to the mobo loom alongside one modular cable?. hmm.

Annother quick question.
I ordered one 5770 last night (couldnt stretch to two just yet)
Will i notice much of a peformance decrease over my gtx260?. or shall i wait till i can get a second 5770 before i remove the 260?

regards
Callum

Just use the 5770 and flog the 260 now while it worth anything mate, while i doubt you will see a rise in performance i doubt you will see a drop aswell from one to the other. Also you can buy a 5770 with the 260 sale go go :D

My two are powered by an Antec HE 550, so i would say you'd be fine!

Hello there :)

I am trying to get the last bit of value for money outta my rig paradigm and noticed what you said about running 2 5770 off a 550 watt power supply :)

I am waiting for my asus 5770 on TWO to turn up to replace my 4850 and wondering would it be worth saving up for another one to pop in for crossfire goodness ;). I have a corsair 520 modular power supply but the second pci slot on my motherboard only runs at 4x, would i see a increase or just better min frame rate increase. They would be running my syncmaster 226bw @ 1680x1050

Thanks for any help and info :)

If my findings on my IP35-PRO were anything to go by (16x and 4x slot), then yes, you would still see a noticeable increase in performance by adding the 2nd card.

People kept assuring me that the 4x slot would be crippling the performance, and by upgrading to an X38 or X48 chipset, I'd see a drastic increase. I finally replaced the board with an Intel DX38BT (with two 16x and one 4x slot) and can honestly say (with 3Dmark Vantage figures to back this up) that there was no increase whatsoever.

So, in short, yes IMO it would be worth adding a 2nd card at a later date :)
