Asus CuCore, goes up to about 55-60% fan speed and reaches 80C in games after about 5 or 10 minutes. It's also horribly loud at these speeds (I mean, unbearable) and I've read about contact issues with the heatsink for this particular model so I'm half convinced I've got a dodgy card. Idles at about 35C which I believe is normal, rest of the system seems cool.

Is this normal?

Defiantly a dodgy card i have a reference 5770 which tops out at 90 overclocked on furmark and the fan is still inaudible around 45%

Well I just ran furmark with everything turned up. It maxed at about 95C and sounded like a hoover at 82% fan speed. Stock clocks.

Damn.

Whats your cases airflow like? the fan speed is above normal but your cards idle temp is spot on, maybe your case isn't venting the hot air out thats generated under stress ?

i have the same card, do you trust those temperatures? i have never got the same reading from any temp program, from moving through forums i think gpu-z gives the best reading. my 5770 idles at 50C and will hit 70-75C after an hour of gaming, but i can't get the fan speed to go above 50%

i realise 75C is still within a safe range for this chip, but i wouldnt mind the fan to kick in sooner? i tried speedfan but it just ruined fps...for some reason? any other suggestions?

Well I have 5 case fans. there's a 140mm 1300RPM intake about 6 inches below the graphics card, another 2 120mm intakes in the front, and 2 120mm exhausts all between 1000-1200rpm. I've played around with my cooling so much, all my system temps have dropped but the graphics card is still the same and just as loud.

It takes around 10 minutes or more for it to reach that idle temperature, I'm not sure if that's typical, that's at 30% fan speed which is the lowest it goes.
