So here's the thing, I sold my 5870 as I had money issues, I then replaced it with 2 Sapphire 5770's which have just arrived.
However, I feel like two 5770's are kind of lack luster and was wondering, would it be worth getting a third one for trifire?

Jesus. Can't afford to keep a 5870, but can afford three 5770s? You are aware that 3x £130 = more than a 5870?

From the looks of things you'd actually be better off getting 2 HD 4870's as they were consistantly outperforming 5770 crossfire and trifire.

Tri-fire can yield excellent results....less consistent than a single powerful gpu or dual gpu set-up though. Less games will support dual gpu than say a single gpu though as we know dual support is most certainly on the increase. To spend more money and head down the path where games are not that well optimised for three gpu's I think would not be a good idea in your instance. Your money though, just make sure you like what you get next. :)

Creative>He sold a 5870 to go crossfire 5770.

Basically he got caught up in the crossfire 5770's enthusiasm thought he could get substantial improvements over his 5870 (which if you believe his sig clocked well) found it to be only a slight improvement or no real improvement and now he has what seems to be the case of buyers remorse and just giving us spin to save face.

Um, no I'm not giving a spin..
I was quite happy with my 5870 at 1050/1300
I had an issue with money, so I sold an SSD and my 5870, after paying the debt off, it was either between a 5850 or a 5770 crossfire, I figured a 5770 crossfire would be better than the 5850, plus I could always add in a third (March onwards when my money's looking up)

I've done this kind of 'downgrade/upgrade' before, selling parts or possessions that I thought I could do without because I needed cash quickly. Most of the time I ended up regretting it.

I'm looking to try Tri-Fire also Martini from what I've seem it scales well. :o

One option is that if you buy another and it fails to be as good as expected you can sell 3 good current g.cards you would have and not loose out to much...if you do go ahead post your feelings/impressions after..:)

Stick with what you've got for now then, you have a kick ass rig. :)

Thanks, also, I was assuming that a 5770 crossfire would maintain more stable frame rates at 5760x1080 (my resolution,) due to there being more VRAM anyways.
I'm quite happy with it at the moment, and just working on clocking my 5770's, I guess I'll just keep this till 6800, I'm just not used to not running a single GPU flagship lol.

Due to the way SLI/Crossfire works even though you have more physical ram you only use the Vram one card. So You still only use 1gb Vram of your crossfire setup even though there is a total of 2gb.

Same will be true if you add another 5770 still will only yield 1gb Vram usage.

@OP .. Yeah I know..we have so much choice now for multi configs that for maximum or near max performance one card, unless 'maybe' it holds the current performance crown, isn't always enough to attain certain very high AA with super high res.

I was in this boat when I was using a 4870X2, seriously considered two 5770's, one 5850, one 5750, one 5770 or a 260gtx. I'll hang on to this card till the new nvidia cards appear and then when things are a little more competitive I may upgrade to either red or green team but I must add just how gutsy this thing is I have atm. It overclocks far, far beyond what I ever expected.

Let us kow what clocks you get. :)
