5770 vs 6790

as the new 6790's are out and they seem to be mid range in price.

anybody know if there is much of a performance boost compared to a 5770?

In the reviews I've seen (Guru3d and HardwareHeaven) the 6790 is trading blows with the GTX460 768mb performance-wise, making it a fair bit slower than the 5850, but faster than the 5830 and a fair bit faster than the 5770.

The main clincher, as I see it, is price. overclockers don't stock it atm, but the standard competitor price is £110-120. On OCuk that'll buy you a 5850 (linky), which is a fair degree faster than the 6790. If in the market, I'd go for one of those instead.

Pricing of the 6790 is all wrong when you look at how cheap the 5xxx series cards are on OCUK.
