5770 vs 6850

Im looking to upgrade my 5770 as it gets a bit sluggish at times. I found a 6850 for £115 and I am just wondering wether I should get the 6850 or sheep out an extra 20 quid for a 6870 ? Or is there an nvidia card for the same price that i am missing and would be better ? I have considered crossfiring the 5770 but my mother board doesn't support xfire so to change that too would be more expensive

I'd go for this tbh. it's a bit slower than the 6870 but can be overclocked significantly to match a gtx560 (non ti) which is significantly faster than any of those cards.

You can also get the 5850 for less than the 6870 and IIRC they overclock quite a bit beyond the 6870 performance and generally a little faster than the 6850 out the box.

Alternatively look at the nVidia 460 or 560Ti.

Hmmm if I was to go for a 560ti how much better would it be compared to a 6870 or 6950 ?

Similarly I went from a 4870 1gb to the 5850 and it was a nice jump

Think it will be either the 5850 or the gtx560

The GTX560Ti is around the speed of the HD6950, and is a good card. Well worth going for over the HD6850, which is more comparable to a previous-gen GTX460 1GB.

the only thing that is off putting for the 560ti is the price
the 6850 is 120 the 6870 is 149 and the 560ti is around 180. i wasnt really looking to spend that much which is why the 6850 really appealed as it was only 12 quid more than what i payed for my 5770 which i would probably sell afterwards and this would give me 60 quid back.

also another off putting factor for me is that i have a relativly cheap PSU and it only has 1 pci connector and the 560ti needs 2. and all my molexs are used to it would probably mean another powersupply.

going to take a lot a reasearching to decide. cause atm i have no clue which one to get haha
