Currently have a 4890 and am missing out on DX11 goodness. Is it worth a swap to a 5770? running a Phenom II and 7 64 bit - 4 gig ram. I play in full HD.

They're near identical performance wise (4890 is probably a little better) to my knowledge but the 5770 uses less power.

The 4890 is roughly equivalent to the 5770 in terms of raw performance. In some cases, exceeding the 5770. the 5770 does have lower power draw, and therefore lower temps, and will do DX11. However there are only a few games that use this.
I would hang on to the 4890 until you can afford at least a 5850, or the 6xxx series due at the end of the year. By that time however your CPU will be the limiting factor.
Wait until the end of the year, and replace the whole thing.

Only do it if you plan on going 5770 xfire and don't buy a new one they are overpriced look at a second hand one for £90.

Personally I would sell the 4890 now while it's still worth decent money.

from what i understand a 5770 is inbetween a 4870 and 4890 in performance but this is offset with the low power draw and dx11. this means that if you get a 5770 it is a sidestep and so you wont see any difference in games, if you want a new card i would wait for a 5850 or the refresh that hopefull comes out this year.
