so i recently built a pc with a msi gtx 480 and was wondering if i can run the 580 in sli with it, altho it does seem to be out of stock D:
also without reading through 30 pages how does it compare with ATI's latest card?

ATI's latest card 6870 is a midrange card that is slower than the old 5870. ATI's 6970 will be 5870 replacement and is being released next week.

you cannot SLi 580 with 480, you'll need a 480.

ok so will i b better off with buying a 580 or getting another 480, i've heard some games dnt work too well with sli, also this may not b answerable by now but does it look like this 6970 will b better than the 580?

probably stick with your 480 (its near enough on speed that you probably won't notice any improvement unless you game at 2560x1600 or above) - the new 570 will kill the sale of 480's and the 2nd hand prices of old 480's - and if you need more (and your mobo supports SLI and your PSU is powerful enough) then pick up a cheap 480 when you need more power (or heat).

i seem to be having problems with just my 480 though running 1080p on full spec on ffxiv i cant get over 30 fps and always running at 99%, i also get crashes on black ops but i dont think that is because of my gpu as it runs at like 50% at max

a 580 isnt going to sort those problems out at that res, thats just down to bad game rendering engines, if you were running at 2560x1600 i could understand you're wanting to upgrade

Black ops should fly ? my 4870x2 runs it at 1920x1080 max details and 8AA and it never droped below 95.. which is because thats it max on multiplayer in the config.. is there driver problems with nvidia :) ? they have a new driver out this morning btw.
