My mate is selling his "Gainward GeForce GTX 580 "GOOD Edition" 1536MB" card for £190 and i was wondering would my OCZ 600W PSU be alright?
I have 2 x 6 pins and would have to use the 6 to 8 adapter which he said he has, i dunno if that makes any difference.

I game at 1680x1050 but will maybe buy a new monitor in the future.

You should be fine I get 430w from the mains on my i7 SB system and 580.
When I had my i7 920 system I got 500w.

yeah 600w is ok. Just double check though your two six pin power connectors as they sometime have another two pin connector that is just folded back.
I had a corsair 650w psu and thought it only had two six pin connectors and had my 580 connected using molex adapters, it was only when I sold the psu I noticed that both leads had indeed two 6+2 connectors lol!!!
But you will be ok with adapters.
By the way, i had the gainward good edition, fantastic card, enjoy.

Thanks guys, ok i just checked and i have two 6 pins in my current card and a little two pin doing nothing, instead of using the adapter would i just put the two 6 pins and then the 2 pin into the 580?

^my mates adapter, dont look like the adapters i have seen.

I seen someone say dont stress test or benchmark with 580 + 600w, was he being over the top or best to be safe?

Only time you will into issues if run the GPU-Z version which removes the limiter on the card which will course it to draw a lot more power, my post above was tested with Furmark and Prime running together.

Ok so the card is installed and everything seems fine except when im installing games its taking much longer and it slows my PC right down.

you dont use your graphics card for installing games.

it wont be drawing anything like the power it is when under full load/playing games.

thats your hard drive being slow?!
