hi all, was curious to what idle temps should be roughly with my specs.

ryzen 7 5800x 3d
msi x470 gaming plus max
3600 ddr 4 corsair vengeance pro x4 8gig
h100i elite aio - top mounted
NVidia rtx 3070
thermal view 32 case
corsair x3 ml pro fans at front
corsair x1 ml pro fans at rear

sitting here typing this I'm currently at 58degrees. while gaming im near the 90 mark.
cooling temp at 36deg

never had this jump using the 3600 ryzen5.
so just checking to see if I'm good of things don't seem right.

Hi.

Something is wrong. My Rig got the same CPU with a NZXT Kraken X63 280mm cooler and my idle temps are 28/30 and full load 65/70. have you tried reseating the block?

ok reset the pump with clean paste twice. idle is still around the 50 mark.
while its now at 70/75 in game
pump is working and i have also turned up the fans on the rad to extreme.

what's your thoughts and appreciate the assistance.

50C is normal. Check your powerdraw when idle, it should be around 30 to 40 watts, which is what causes your temps to be at 50c.

Gaming temps are fine but 5800x3d has high idle temps so 50c is normal.

Use these to report temps and let us know please

ok i have had core temp running for around 20 minutes at idle.
temps are 51deg with 35cooling temp.
also take into consideration is pretty warm here today at 28deg.

power is around 40-45 watts.
Could try a Bios update if there is one available for your board? is your voltage set to auto in bios?
bios update already done due to having ryzen5 3600 upgraded to ryzen7 5800x3d
as for voltages i have no idea here what I'm looking for.

It's normal, check your power draw at idle. It should be around 30 - 40w. Amd cpus draw a lot at idle and it results in those idle temps

If the CPU is doing any minor tasks it will likely spike power and temps. Can also try using PBO Curve to lower voltage and thus temps. Here is mine at idle at -30 CO using a 240 AIO:

Not quite 28C here but might be 25/26C

Try HW. Sometimes the softwares polling rate can have an adverse effect on temps.

What's temperature in the bios?
Or in safe mode?
Unless you shut down all background stuff
It's not always easy
To get it to be totally idle
Load temperature is way more important
If its high at idle but OK at load
Probably something running in the background
And yeah it's certainly hot today too
28c outside here and very high humidity too
Be interesting to see how high my temperatures get today
Once I use the pc

here is a screenshot, pc running for around 10 minutes - as for playing with PBO thats something i have never done

5800X3D on air here.

25c temp room

5800X3D at stock
3090 Ti (SUPRIM X 24G) at stock

Noctua NH-U14S in push pull with another Noctua fan. Also using a low-noise adapter NA-RC9 (100 Ω )

2x front Noctua chromax 120mm case fans - locked running at 42% speed
1x back Noctua chromax 120mm case fan - locked running at 42% speed

BIOS reports CPU1 is 510RPM, PUMP1 is 620RPM, 3x case fans ~740RPM.

I messed around for maybe 20 hours overclocking, underclocking and experimenting with PBO2, package power settings and many other things for the CPU. In the end I realised its better to leave it as it was intended and let it be a bit warmer but 100% stable.

5800X3D with a h100i as well, although mine is front mounted and drawing cool air directly. Seeing yours is top mounted and assuming it's working as an exhaust, your temps look about right based on the rest of your system.

Definitely do the -30 trick with curve optimiser, it helps with temps and gives a boost in all core performance.

Done that, many hours testing. It's fine until extra power is needed then you get a flat system shutdown as I did in a final circle of Warzone playing quads a couple times. Stock settings, zero crashes since

ok so latest things i have done trying to get temps down is as follows.
remove AIO and CPU block, clean and repasted and reinstall.
same issue.

i have however for a temp fix i have gone into power management and changed the maximum processor state to 99%
yes I'm losing some speed and functionality as its currently now at 3.30Ghz
with idle temps at around 40/50 and gaming around the 70/80 region.

how do i go about trying the -30 trick with curve optimiser.
