5800x Dilemma?

I'm waiting on my delivery of a 5800x, (around 230ish in queue), and im not seeing much in the way of updates on when stock is going to be inbound.

Im wondering if AMD will be prioritising the 5600x & 5900x as im sure id read that the 5800x is less efficient for them to make (I could well be wrong however!)

Anyone heard any noises on when new stock could be on the way?

Im getting itchy fingers and wondering whether to cancel the 5800x and get a 3900xt.

Its mainly a gaming build to be paired with a RTX 2080 (standard, not super)

Saying that, if Overclockers have a spare OEM 5800x thats just in a plastic bag rather than the nice Retail packaging and free Far Cry 6...im not fussy....give me a refund of £30 and my Next Day Delivery and all good!! :D

Each CCX is 8 cores, so the the 5800X and 5950X both require complete units, whereas the 5600X and 5900X can use CCX's with up to 2 dead cores.

That's what makes me wonder whether AMD are not going to 'prioritise' the 5800x, even though the unbalanced pricing compared to the 5600x and 5900x means customers are already paying a premium.

10th...now thats just teasing you!

It is frustrating, although I think the real people we should be a bit ****** at is AMD. Knowing the current global situation with Covid, increased demand, pressure on manufacturing plants etc, they really should have just held back the launches until there was adequate stock in the supply chains. Its even worse for the people who are trying to get hold of 6000 series GPU's. Especially as AMD were telling the world how there would be stock at launch.

I was tempted to just cancel my 5800x over the weekend as i'd seem some decent deals on Zen 2 12 core 3900xt but I thought sod it might as well leave it on, unless Im lucky to stumble across one elsewhere. The shipment volumes on these chips are just dreadful and we can only hope things improve!

Mind you with continued demand for Zen 3, the 6000 series GPUS and the god knows how many of PS5 /Xbox X consoles that will need to be produced with AMD chips, the strain on AMD's manufacturing partners isnt going away anytime soon!
