5800X Hitting 90c? Will it throttle it's self?

I have a 5800X with aftermarket air cooler that spikes up to 75c while just browsing the web, I got sick of the fan speed constantly spiking due to my fan curve, so I have just set the fan to run at 35% flat all the way now irrespective of temperature. Will the CPU throttle it's self at 90c?
I read online that these cpu's use all the thermal headroom they have, so will hit 90c anyway?

instantly to me that screams to re paste the cpu it shouldnt be doing that at all.
or consider undervolting it via curve optimizer.
but i think you need to put thermal paste again

I've read around on other forums and a lot of people say it's normal due to the small die size. It idles in the 40s

That temp is way to high repaste and re tighten in small increments in diagonal steps. Do you have an exhaust fan in the roof rear of your case.

It was like this before in my NR200P with a scythe mugen 5, and now in my Tower 100 with a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120

to answer original question, it will sort of throttle in a gentle way, reducing clocks/volts just enough to stay under 95C

When you re installed the cooler how did you tighten it up? did you go from corner to opposite corner gradually tightening the screws or did you tighten them all up as you went around?

I would remove the cooler and re seat it, try and get a even mount when doing the screws on it

Yep, gradually, corner by corner, it is pasted correctly as well. It was like this in my NR200P with Artic F12s and a Scythe Mugen 5.

This ties in with my recent thread re: fans ramping up and down.

Isn’t the actual solution using the BIOS or software to slow down the speed at which the fans speed up / down? Adding a 5/10 second delay should accommodate the micro spikes, no?

Just an idea.

This setting doesn't work on my Asus motherboard. It has a step up option that appears to do nothing lol
