Hey guys.

Currently have a PC with the following spec
5800x
B550 strix
2x8gb 4400mhz
Rtx3080
Game at 1440p with a 270hz monitor
Also record/stream also

I was going to get a 4080 but not happy paying those prices so looking at my CPU/platform instead

I5 13600k with a b760 tomahawk, looking around the £500 mark before selling my 5800x and b550 on

Thoughts?

I wouldn't have thought it would make a dramatic difference to go through that much hassle. It's same gen cpu effectively and end of line on that platform to which for a new build doesn't make sense especially if the old one is of comparable performance - ie no generational leap. Ah that upgrade itch...

Not worth the money. It'll be a small gain, and for a similar level of improvement even just upgrading to the 5800X3D is cheaper, but still not worth it. Your CPU is good for at least another couple of generations.

Save that money and wait for a better priced GPU instead. At 1440p it'll be more GPU dependant than CPU. Saying that the 3080 is no slouch, sure it may not reach 270fps with the latest games but it's still a strong performer.

Nice one, cheers all.

I definitely do have a upgrade itch, I'm not sure what else I could do

Storage maybe? Got a 1tb sn550 as my boot/main game drive
Qvo 1tb as a game/app drive

Maybe upgrade my sn550 to a 2tb gen4 or something?

Ooo I like that.

Forgive me but I don't really understand what makes a storage drive good or not.
I don't have this software, could I extract more performance from my sn550 from using it? Or is it a case of buying a sn850 like yours?

Can I run two m.2 drives at full speed on b550 strix-F?

WD_BLUE SN550 is a Gen 3.0 Speed M.2 like 3900 write , the sn850 is Gen 4.0 speed 7000 write & 5000 read The Western Digital SSDs Come with 5 year warranty that peace of mind .

the motherboard you have is nice,
I would keep it & just stay with the CPU you have or update the bios if you not already done so to support the 5800x3d
& purchase that, very nice gaming CPU
:)
