My rig is per my signature.
I play a lot of Hell Let Loose (amongst other games) and am aware that it runs pretty badly for most people.
I have found one reddit post that discusses HLL specifically regarding 5800x vs 5800x3d but that aside I have not found much else.

I only game on my PC.
I am wondering on whether buying a 5800X3D would be worth it for me. It would take my B450 based rig as far as it can go.
Obviously I'd prefer a 7800X3D but spanking £200 on a motherboard then changing to DDR5 is just way more £££.

I wondered what peoples thoughts were?

I just got a 5800x off the MM and the lad got a 5800x3D, he told me he thought is was stupid and should have stayed with the 5800x
the X3D will give more FPS its a gaming chip, but my x runs at 4.8Ghz in games and dose a dam good job.

the 5800x will sell for £130, the x3D will cost you £250 is the outlay of £120 worth a few FPS in game bench marks the x3D is only 10% faster

based in the system requirement for HLL i have to assume is a badly optimised game?
i can't see a 5XXX chip having a problem

Go for it, I noticed an uplift in HLL but it wasn't as much as Escape from Tarkov which made me feel like I bought a new GPU (1440p 165Hz). I went from 5600x to 5800X3D as I wanted to upgrade my mothers PC and had a spare 16gb RAM kit.
As Duffer has stated, the lows are much better and a smoother experience than the normal non x3D parts. Obviously you'll get some games that your old CPU could drive your 7900XT fine but for the games that shine with X3D, it's a massive difference in performance.

Look at a few benchmark videos to see the benefits but as you have a more powerful GPU than me I'd recommend it as it will stretch out the use of that system for the forseeable future.

Agree with this, I just did the same jump. For example I know it's a poor example but, for TLOU this is what I noticed.
The street scene at the start of the game was stuttering all over place with dips to 45fps. However now at the very least, I'm maintaining 60fps while and also hitting a higher average overall.
Going forward, I think it's only going to get worse on the CPU. Certainly until devs implement Direct Storage as a mainstream decompression solution.

I just upgraded from 5800X to 5800X3D, as many others have. If the games you enjoy take advantage of the extra vcache, you can see massive gains.

iRacing is one such game :D
