Hi

just installed MSI Afterburner for the on-screen overlay and was a bit shocked, concerned and a little worried about the wattage it was showing whilst playing cod.

I am using an MSI X570 MAG Tomahawk motherboard and have under-volted CPU using Kombo-Strike at -30 but noticed the overlay only displaying 67-70 ish Watts. I understand it is under-volted, but this seems really low. The CPU speed is, 4450 and fps good (although I do notice some glitching/stuttering, but this could be game).

Can anyone confirm if this is all normal, or do I need to change a cpu power setting somewhere to enable it to use more power?

Thank you.

Thats fine, games dont pull a lot of power unlike the multi threaded power hog tests. You can even try to limit these cpus to max 65 watts if you like and you wont see much performance drop in games. On Asus motheboards its performance enhancer = disabled.

I think it must be fine as clock speed is at 4450. I'm just a little amazed at how low the wattage is when gaming, I just played some RDR2, and it wasn't hitting 60watts most of the time. I came from an i9 9900k before moving to a 5800x3d a short while ago, so that might help explain my shock and hesitation at such low wattage from a cpu whilst running full clock speed.

Thanks for replies.

I've currently got a 9900kf daily clocks at 4.8 - How do you find the temps on your 5800x3d? I'm kind of sick of the high temps on the 9900k with my 360 AIO. did you notice a difference in performance?

I'm using a peerless assassin 120 and have as say undervolted the cpu. My worst temps are 75 when playing the last of us, but generally in cod etc it is around 56 I believe.
