Hi All,

Could somebody advise on a reasonably cheap cooler for my 5800x3d? I can’t seem to find much info about this anywhere. I don’t really want to go the aio route but any recommendations will be a great help.

Thanks.

I have the Noctua NH-U14S with dual fan (in push-pull) I can highly recommend it if you can find one for sale. It's currently using a low noise adapter and the 3 Noctua case fans are locked at 42%

I looked at the D15 years ago and it looked too big for my case at the time and/or might have caused issues with memory clearance. As you can see, the front cpu far sits just behind (~1cm) the RAM
Also had an AIO years ago but it was one of the first (Corsair H50 I think it was) the pump on that thing was so loud and annoying that I went back to air not long after buying it

Here's my setup with the 5800X3D

That’s some fan! I think I’d be pretty close to my memory with that also

It's $35 (in the US)and is what I would use if I were looking to spend as little as possible on a cooler for this CPU and still get decent cooling.

Keep in mind that the heat density of this chip makes it a challange for just about any cooler under all-core workloads. It reached 90c in R23 under my 280mm AIO. It just took longer to get there. (Using a Noctua NH-D15S now)
Would that be sufficient do you think? D15 is a little too much with my budget, which is about up to £50. I play mostly fs2020 which is cpu intensive.

It's a 120W chip. Pretty much any cooler is fine.

If you want a cooler that will stop it immediately going to 90C when running Prime95 then you will be spending a lot of money.

A Hyper 212 or Freezer 34 is enough to keep it at 80C when running Cinebench r23. In games it will be locked to 4.45ghz.
Ok, great that helps mate.

Thanks a lot everyone
