Hi guys

Received my OC UK bundle yesterday and was doing some benchmarks on the CPU

5820k @ 3.8Ghz

idle temp - 35-40 degrees

Prime 95 - 90 degrees within 5 minutes

Asus real bench - max 76 degrees over 15 minutes (however around 74 for most of it)

My cooler is Phanteks TC 12DC, Case Enthoo prime with 3 case fans.

The GPu was a cheap Geforce 210, Titan X to be installed eventually.

Is the Asus benchmark more reliable than the Prime benchmark?

I read on another forum that there is a bug with Prime 95 and Haswall-E or is that a load of BS

Is it worth running the Asus benchmark for long period of time? (4 - 8 hours)?

Or do those temps look way to hot already and I should reseat the fan with thermal paste again?

Thanks

Jim

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I did a 2 hour stress test with the Titan x next to it and the max temp was 84 degrees on CPU, however most of the time the cores where around 80 degrees. Titan was around 79-83 degrees most of that time.

However I have just moved the PC into my room and the idle temps are a lot higher now, about 4-5 degrees hotter. A 15 min stress test temps peaked at 84 degrees.

I assume gaming will be a lot less stressful on the CPU than these tests.

I will monitor it during the week, the paste job I did was not the best so I may redo that with some Artic silver.

Thanks for the feedback, had a long gaming session yesterday, approx 6 hours in Witcher 3 and max temp was 68 degrees on CPU so I am ok with that.

Will keep an on eye it over coming weeks in case it creeps up quickly.
