First time overclocker looking for advice on a couple of things.

I'm looking to get 4.3Ghz on a Gigabyte X99-SLI Motherboard. It wasn't stable at 4.2/1.15V or 4.3/1.175V but seems to be fairly stable at 4.3Ghz/1.2V

Is that a reasonable/safe voltage? Temps in ASUS' RealBench stress test top out at 75 degrees on a Noctua NH-D15.

In terms of long-term stability testing, should I just run RealBench on the stress test for the max of 8 hours?

Thanks.

That voltage is fine. Mine uses 1.295v at 4.5ghz. The temps seem to be fine aswell with that cooler.

It's up to you if you want to run the test for longer. I usually run for a couple hours or so once I have a stable looking voltage.

Sorry if I hijacked your answer :D

1.3v is considered the 'safe' voltage for the Haswell-E chips, you might want to check your temps but with a Noctua cooler I don't think they will be bad.

I'm having similar stability issues on this board too - same CPU. One thing I have noticed is the the VCORE setting in the BIOS is different to that showing in the SIV application and other tools.

For example I had to up my voltage to 1.3v in the BIOS to get it stable at 4.1GHz (33x 125MHz) but the SIV app and others only show 1.2v.

Currently at those settings its fine most of the time but under high load its unstable.

Have updated to a EVGA 1300w PSU and Triton cooler which I installed last night.

Will have a further go tonight
