Just a curiosity here...
I'm soon to be putting my new build together. Moving on from the 5820K system I built in 2015, to a shiny new 12700K based system.
Because of silly prices though, I'll be sticking with my old 1080ti for now - still a pretty capable GPU.
I was just wondering what kind of improvement I'll notice in games going from a 5820K with a 1080ti, to a 12700K with a 1080ti?
Will it be pretty minimal or actually quite noticeable?

Thanks

I think it will depend on which res your gaming at but either way you should notice a decent improvement to minimums.

i think you would see a bigger gain with a gpu upgrade.. something like 3070/6700xt would suit you well for 1440p.
also if you are not overclocking your 5820k you are leaving a lot of performance there.. most of them will do ~4.4 with ease

I went from 5820k @4.7 to [email protected] to a 5.1 10850k... i also have 12700k test system currently but no numbers for that

1440p doesn't puts more stress on the gpu. I still have some old results after upgrade to 8700k
this was with 1080ti

some more comparison with 8 and 10th gen.
2080 very similair in perfomarnce to 1080ti but even with newer cpu not much gain in 1440p

Yeah as others have said the cpu doesn't make that much of a difference.

If you can hold out I'd wait for amd and Intels next cpu's. I know alder lake is recent but I've got a feeling their next cpu's are going to be really good.

Or have you already bought the 12700k?
