Because a 10% increase is nothing
from 30-40 maybe higher? you still see noticeable frame loss. It has to be 50+ constant to have good smooth game play. So games like Dirt 2 that runs on average, 40ish fps @ 1920x1200 on the 5850 AND 5870 = no real world difference. I've had the 5850 AND 5870 on the same system in sig, I still notice frame loss. Don't forget, a lot of sites bench on AVERAGE FPS.
I've learn't my lesson reading numbers and benchies. Many forum members have told me many times not to fall for the benchmark hypes.
