5850 CF to ??? upgrade for BF3

Hey guys,

So I sold my 2 x 5850 BE's yesterday and i'm after some advice on what to get next. i'm after a single card solution which will net me the most benefit for BF3 (BF3 being the ONLY game I play at the moment tbh). Also needs to be watercooled as the sound of the tinny fans on graphics cards drives me nuts! Monitor is HP24 IPS panel 1920x1200 and I'd like to aim for ultra settings (min 60FPS)

I even went and bought a EK-FC580 GPU block thinking the Nvidia 580GTX (a 3gb one) would be the best route to take once the 7970's launch and they drop in price (the 580's). I could then add a second 580GTX later on when they drop even more in price when kevlar (or whateva lol!) is launched

reason behind my thinking to go for a 580 was that:
A)- BF3 has optimisations for Nvidia cards at the moment
B)- The 7970's will be out of my price range.

Suggestions welcome as I am currently using onboard which is driving me nuts!! (Suppose I can live without BF3 for a couple of weeks lol), thanks.

Why did you sell your 5850 BEs? Mine run the game perfectly at that res. Just had to drop the AA by one.

It wasn't as smooth as I would have liked on full ultra settings tbh

Well something isn't right then as it's silky smooth here.

tbh you sold probably best value performance solution

for what extra youll pay for a 580 cant see what you would gain if not lose.

would have waited another 6 months tbh if not more as you wouldnt of lost much on the cards still then and the newer top cards that arnt out yet will have dropped quite a bit.

Yer I know mate- but had to sell them whilst they were still worth something tbh. Didn't want to risk anymore loss on them once the 7970's came out.

What about 570's? They any good? My block will fit a reference 570....or I could just sell the blockand just get a 7970 and get it over with lol

The release of the 7*** series won't move the price too much tbh.
