Got a 5850 pcs+ and all of a sudden the fan has started to make some strange noises.

When the card is idle and the fan slows to around 20% there is a annoying rattling/ticking sound coming from the fan. If you override it and set speed to 60% or so, it seems to go away. Also when the pc is shut down, the fan seems to make a scratching sound as it slows down :(. I've had the card out and no dust or anything on there and it doesn't appear to be hitting anything either when it spins.

Only time I've heard similar noises before are on fans that are past their best, but the card is less than three months old :(. So surely the fan shouldn't be showing wear already

It used to be completely silent until it started to make this strange noise. RMA time?, is it a common issue, am I likely to find the same happens on a new card after a few months?

Also has any one else rma a card for fan issues, any problems doing it, or is it likely to be sent back and told nothing wrong :(.

Have you taken it apart and blown the dust out of it?

There was a post a few months back from a chap with this who said after taking his apart, there was a defect on the flashing on one of the plastic bits that was easily corrected.

I have heard of fans not being fitted properly in the 5000 series, try pushing the fan in. this is the case with some sapphire cards.

When it started rattling I checked for dust and there wasn't really any. Blew the card out with some air to remove the little there was.

Fan also seems to be on properly, can't be pushed down any more. It was fine when I got it, then all of a sudden it just started making noise :(.
