Hey guys,

The first of the two 5850s I ordered showed up and I've been using it today. It all seems fine except for one bizarre error...

Sometimes times when watching a video or playing a game, the areas of the screen have green sparkles. Unless I'm mistaken it only seems to be effected by certain grey shades, but I'm not sure on this yet.

The only time I've seen things like this before is when overclocking too high. I've tried reinstalling the driver but to no avail. The temps seem OK too.

Has anyone else experienced this error or have any suggestions on trying to fix it?

I'm performing a complete reinstall when my retail copy of Windows 7 shows up so hopefully that will do it, but I'm a little concerned atm.

Pretty much everyone that has posted problems with a 5850 has been running Win7. What drivers are you using?

I'm actually running Vista Ultimate 64 bit atm (I lost my beta key before I could activate it).

Catalyst version = 9.10 (the latest official release)

Well, after trying a number of other things (including other drivers wolvers), I managed to solve it! :D

It turned out to be a faulty HDMI cable...

Switched it over and now it works perfectly! :)

Was a little worried at first as it's a VTX and didn't want to deal with their allegedly awful RMA service.
