Right then it's my birthday at the weekend and I've been pondering a graphics card for ages, currently got a 4870 1GB and after looking at some benchmarks it seems I could get another and achieve faster framerates than a 5850 and save over a £100. The only thing that is nagging at me is DX11, my question is:

Does anyone know if a 5850 will play DX11 titles at a playable framerate with the DX11 features on?

I'll be gaming at 1920x1200.

Thanks!

I don't mean to be rude but why not google for some reviews and/or use the search function? This has been discussed many times before.

sorry I've found loads of benchmarks but due to the lack of DX11 titles I'm just interested in how people think the card will do (I know it's guess work, and I should wait for more DX11 games (AvP3 etc) but I want to buy this weekend!).

I'll try searching, cheers

I honestly dont see any titles coming out anymore that are taxing in the slightest to modern cards, i know consoles are to blame for the slow advancement but it would be nice for at least one pc only game that wasnt an MMO that gave us something to upgrade for lol :)

i have a 5750 and every dx11 game ive tried ive been able to max out with awesome frames so, yes i would imagine so

At the min it seems fine but in 6-8 month time it may not be up to the job

Which isn't to bad when you consider its been out about 6 months already, and i wouldn't base buying a card on Dx11, not when by the time these are EOL'd (which is around June/July), there will only be about 4-6 games out with little Dx11 enhancements tacked on, as we've only got Battleforge, Dirt2, Stalker COP so far havn't we, so i can't see many more streaming out by June/July when these get canned, its cards further down the line you want for Dx11, they'll be more powerfull, and will have more games out that use it, and use it more than its being used now. :)

Agreed, buy the card for what it plays at the time,by the time a lot of dx11 games are out we be on the next gen at least.
