I'm having an odd problem since having upgraded to a 5850. I get really bad stuttering in games when I start them. They smooth out after 10 minutes or so. The worse culprit is GTAIV, as soon as I leave the apartment the game will freeze for a couple of seconds and then stutter really badly. I tend to just spin the camera round in circles till it smooths out. It's like its struggling to load everything. It will keep stuttering everytime I turn a corner and it has to load up new assests for about 10 minutes at which point it will become more or less smooth all the time. Changing graphical settings doesn't make any difference nor does removing my over clock.

I did also change my ram maybe that could be the culprit? I would switch it out and check but I'm using a new mobo now too which doesn't support ddr2.

I've got the 10.4 preview drivers and an 850watt antec psu :(

In the past I have had issues with spyware ruining gaming fps. It is an unlikely cause but a spyware scan may be worth a try.

Your 4gb ram is not at fault. Faulty ram = bsod. Faulty ram is annoying, but usually quite easy to diagnose.
Even though I would be massively suprised if the problem was your ram, you could run Memtest just to rule it out:).
