5850 on the way...

I think I was just a bit unlucky - I'm sure the next one will work fine.

Good to see those power consumption figures - I've a 500w Tagan PSU; was a little worried it wouldn't have enough oomph, but seeing as it seems to cope fine with a 260 GTX - bodes well.

The people I bought it from (not OCUK) were actually quite good, and offered to arrange a collection to pick it up.

Cheers,

Rich

I RMA'd mine as well. Turns out I got a faulty one too. Getting it replaced as I still want a 5850 anyway. Fingers crossed that everything goes well with the replacement one. :)

As an owner of a gtx 260/OC (almost 200Watt TDP) and a 5850 thought Id comment real quick.

Unless you "play"furmark a lot your actual power consumption will be even lower on current ATI cards. I have heard a lot of theories and explanations but regardless if you want an idea of gameplay TDP something like 3dmark or crysis will give you a more realistic maximum. If you use Vsync the actual draw will average consistently less while gaming.

Official TDP:
GTX 260 182W
5850 151W

for instance compare these two
