I've currently got a Zotac GTX260 and I'm looking at upgrade to maybe a 5850 card.

A few questions if I may

1. Just how much more improvement will I see?
2. I game at 22" so you're talking 1650x1080 - is there any point in upgrading cards if I'm playing at that size?
3. My PSU....would it, the one in sig, be sufficient to run my setup with a 5850? IF that is, it's worth my while getting a new card.

Cheers

bump, just needing to know if anyone has went from the 260 to the 5850 and what they thought of any change...anyone?

if you were on a 9800 5850 for sure for price v performance, as is your 260 will handle things just fine, no doubt, so wait till fermi and either pick up a 5850 for a lot less, or grab one of those, the change just wont give the right performance for cost in my opinion.

I myself went from a 9800gt to a 5850, and whilst the difference is big, games were playing just fine on the 9800 and the 5850 does have its limits, a 260 is light years ahead of the 9800 ergo I am sure it ll play games fine, you wont notice a massive difference, save your cash till you can get something more for better value.

3) PSU Should be fine
2) Only if you want to turn every setting to high/ultra and intend to game on DX11 in the near future :)
1) I went from a 4580 to 5850 and from a 17" to a 24" 1920x1200 resolution and I can still play most games on reasonably high settings, so I think that you will notice some difference especially on newer games. Obviously games will older engines won't make use of all that horsepower :)

Check out benchamrks of the 5850, a lot of them which I saw always used the GTX260 as a comparison.

You will see improvements and your PSU is fine running this card. If you are planning on settings up a crossfire setup in the future you may need to get a new PSU to support the setup.
