5850 VRM temps

is temp quoted in game or furmark? I would say that 64 is fine. When i stressed mine, i did note that furmark got the VRMs up way above in game temps.

Nice clock btw.

thats in gamng.

furmark beings the VRM's to around ~75c

at 950/1250 1.212v the VRM's to around ~50c in gaming...

so should i keep with 1000/1250 1.272v or 950/1250 1.212v?

Thats fine, the temps are fine. However, I don't think you would see a huge difference with the 50mhz on the core. I would go with 950/1250 because its quite a big jump frm 1.212 - 1.272.

I'd use the 1Ghz for now, but as temps rise and in the middle of summer I might be tempted to drop them down further.

I keep a few different profiles saved on MSI afterburner, a under volted stock one for lowest power idling I can get away with, a "this game is so old excess speed is just a waste" pretty much stock clocks setting, though my 5850 will undervolt at stock fine. Then I have a pretty standard 925/1.2v overclock, and a silly "if its cold or I'm playing Crysis/Metro" type overclock with a little more juice and clocks.

When I play lotro, i played windowed so I can watch tv, browse the net, whatever, I play vsynced most of the time aswell, at 60fps the gpu usage is barely 50% on max settings, no point overclocking and using more power, when the card isn't even fully loaded.

My chip's odd.
I can hit 950/1300, use 1.175v, and max out furmark 8xmsaa, 1920x1080, full screen, FX, displacement map, extreme burning mode..
And be fine for hours under 85c on the GPU.
Yet for the life of me, can't get 1000MHZ.
