Hi, my new machine came yesterday with 2x5870 in crossfire and im running it on the asus p6t motherboard and i7 920 at stock at the moment....
Am i severly limiting the amount of fps i would be getting using it at stock as im pretty much a nub when it comes to overclocking the cpu and wondering how much it would improve fps if i did. Im running 1900x1200 with everything maxed near enough so any idea of i would gain a great deal of fps overclocking it?

one more thing i know people are probably sick of this game here :p but is world of warcraft a lot more dependant on CPU speed as the fps maxed in that with crossfire dont see to be as much as i thought they would be, i mean with everything maxed out aa and AF it can drop down to about 15 fps in dalaran which doesnt seem right.

thanks again

Any help would be aprechiated.

clocked it to 3.3ghz idling at 41 degrees, havent had much of a chance to test it in games yet but would there be any reason for me to go even further or is that overclock fine.

Would i see much of an increase at high resolutions from 3.3 to 3.8?
thanks again
Also does the ram make too much of a difference because from overclocking the cpu its lowered the ram frequency

Would it be worth overclocking the gpu also or would that abit overkill at the moment, its running at 37degrees idle so i dont think temps would be a problem.

Yes. See this article:

High performing cards like the 5870 in xfire even at 1920 x 1200 need a fast cpu to feed them.

Oh and WOW is a cpu hog especially Dalaran. There has being threads around since it was created about the appauling framerates everybody gets there. I suspect even with one 5870 your framerate wouldn't be any less.

Oh and it's pants coding anyway as even at these areas it's not maxing out the cpu or gpu if you monitor it ;)
