5870 and stalker COP low fps

Hay all.

I just got my asus 5870 today and i am not sure if i am getting proper fps for stalker cop.

The card running on stock with

E6850 @ 3.2
2GB 5300 ram
P35 MB

I getting as low as 28 fps

Supersampling = off

SSAO text = 0ff

SSAO = off

Vertical sync = off

Improved full lighting DX 10


Any ideas ?

Just a thought, but it may be time to upgrade to 4GB and maybe a touch faster.

maybe you should have got a 460/5850 and spent the rest on upgrading the rest of your system as i would imagine there's a slight bottleneck there

on a more helpful note an extra 2gb of ram as said above would improve system performance

oh and what cpu cooler have you got fitted as it might be temp related aswell

The rest of the system being updated in next 2 weeks

I did have 4 gig in there but 2 GB was low stuff and could not OC the E6850 at all with it in.

CPU temps are fine never go over 43 on full load using Titan Fenrir.

So you think it's a just the cpu/ram holding the gpu back ?

If so then it will be sorted in a few weeks i have already got the other new bits just need cpu/ram then i can put it all together

It's definitely your CPU/RAM, Stalker likes ATI cards and should run like a buttered tart (right simile?) on a 5870

Just for fun i put it in dx11 and turned everything to max everything on and i get around 50-60 fps

I bet it would drop low 20s if a lot of npcs are around but atm i am happy and the dx11 lighting effects wow very nice.

I used ATI overdrive to auto oc the card and it finished at 1000/1210 that good ?

I don't know if the volts are the right default setting?

i put the card back to normal speed and got rid of smartdocotor as overclocking did not see any more fps in stalker.

I just hope that my cpu/ram is what making fps go that low and not the gpu.

What sort of fps do others get with better cpu/ram is the min fps going to be much better ?
