So yeah my tasty 5870 just arrived and i've just installed it. However, I run pretty bad with graphics cards and the GTX280 it's replacing (That's going straight to RMA) has been bugging out on me since I got it, so I was wondering if you guys have any tried and true methods to put my new card to the test and check all is go?

YEEEEEEAH, it was my 280 that was fried! I can finally play games without lockups, finally play STALKER and a few others full stop, and most importantly, I can play Psychonauts!

You still haven't tested the most cpu, gpu intensive game yet...Hello Kitty Online, if it can hack that, you have a good card.

I think the Stalker games run particularly well on ATI cards. Fear is another, the first game, that should run well on your new card. Enjoy. :)

Strange, I find the stalker games run horribly on my system (unusual as most other games run almost flawlessly). There's noticeable lag/slowdown a lot of the time, and massive amounts of screen tearing generally (even with vsync).

I guess I'll have to play them on medium - I don't mind slightly worse graphics if I can actually feel immersed in the gameplay.

Wanna really stress it then Heaven benchmark, extreme tessellation, 8xAA on the highest res you can.

Also found Heaven better than Furmark for finding unstable GPU overclocks!
