5870 Borked Bios Flash.

Something has gone wrong whilst flashing my 5870 bios.
The card powers up but nothing.
I need to reflash but there is no display on the monitor.
Can I put my mates 3870 in and reflash it that way using the 0 or 1 for card selection??

Can i ask why you wanted to flash it?

I was flashing to the Asus bios to overclock the card.

I had to do it blind once before. It's totally doable, you just need to know when and where to press what.

if i put the 5870 in the bottom pcie slot and the 3870 in the top one. what is the top card 0 or 1? i don't want to bork the 3870 too.

Top card (primary card) should be number 0. But it's been ages since I've done this, so you better wait for a second opinion.

I tried flashing blind but no good. I get vga bios error on my asus mobo lcd poster. So that's a no go.

Well for HDD's the primary (top) one is 0. It would be sensible to presume 0 is primary

First card is 0 second is 1 so command will be:

atiflash -f -p 1 whateveryourbiosfilenameis.bin

If you use a primary videocard for display and flash the faulty card.

So if I put the borked 5870 in the bottom pcie slot and 3870 in the top and then use 'atiflash -f -p 1 xxxxxxxx' command.
Or could I just put the 3870 in the bottom pcie slot and the use 'atiflash -f -p 0 xxxxxx'. Would that work? Would I get a display with the card being in the bottom pcie slot?

Put the 5870 in the bottom slot and flash with 'atiflash -f -p 1 xxxxxxxx' command.

Waiting for mate to bring his 3870 over.

i remember the day when my AGP card failed a flash, used PCI one to reflash it
