5870 bottlenecked?

Would be interested to hear your view on that :)

What resolution to you game at? How's the performance in the games that you play?

I would imagine that there's a fair bit of bottleneck in modern games. No way to quantify it though :p

Could do a comparison between your performance and some existing benchmarks on higher end cpu/memory

at the moment i play on a 1680 x 1050 display and games like Grid play nice and smooth. I could run a 3dmark benchmark test and tell you my score from that though.

The overclock will help a lot in terms of reducing the bottleneck but as newer games more and more likely to make use of quad core CPU, you will probably experience some bottleneck. Don't worry too much about it though, just keep gaming and less worying!

Sweet, 5870 is a little overpowered for a 1680 x 1050 resolution though tbh :p

If you like you could load up some benchmarks from anandtech or tomshardware or something, do some of the same benches yourself and compare the score/fps (they'll probably have tested on i7 920s or something). Would be interested to see the result from Crysis if you have it :D

As teddy said, if it's all playable at your resolution on your current hardware then there's no reason to worry. Once you get performance drops and have trouble playing then is a good time to worry about bottlenecks :)
