5870 corruption issue?

Mornin all, just wondered if anyone has any suggestions/comments on a wierd issue I am having with a just installed 5870.

I fitted the card sat and it all fired up ok (after some minor case surgery forgot how long those cards were) and all seem fine.
(I uninstalled drivers from my 4890, turned off pc, installed card then loaded system to install latest catalyst so drivers should have been clean)
Yesterday I started my pc up and went into WOW and on the launcher I noticed some flashing pixels, bit like sparkies people used to talk about if they vastly overclocked a card (its not overclocked at all). Then when I launched the game properly I had a few pieces of corruption on the right side of the screen, not a lot, but a few groups of I would guess 6x6 pixels.
I thought oh bugger, logged out fast and fired up GPU-Z which reported low temps etc, so I went back into wow and it was fine, including the launched and the loading screens. Wierd. Played for an hour or so and it was fine, completely fine or so it appeared, no signs of any issues.
Later yesterday I followed same process and it was exactly the same, some flashing pixels on loader then corruption on in game loading screens (it comes and goes over a couple of secs) But again was fine after that.
This morning same.
Its almost like the card needs a little load to warm up and then its fine?

I have a new mobo, ram etc on order just awaiting despatch from OC, may have to get a power supply just to rule everything out. My current one is probably touch and go powerful enough so will prob order one later today just to be sure.

Just seems wierd I get a repeatable issue on very low/negligable graphics demand, yet its fine under load.

I am slightly concerned this is an iffy board, as I think both issues would be under 2D load not 3D.

So any suggestions, could this be power related or any other ideas on what it could be before I get the new mobo etc all fired up.

This was bough on MM, but was an unused card so I don't believe the seller has tried to fob off a dodgy card. I could live with these issues if I had to assuming its not indicative of something thats going to get worse, as I said it only seems to affect a couple of 2D screens not anything 3D.:(

My only suggestion is to remove the drivers again only this time run driver sweeper in safe mode before re-installing the drivers.

I ran driver sweeper recently over cat 10.5 and was quite surprised at the amount of debris left by the uninstaller.

It can cause all kinds of issues.. The problem you describe sounds like a probable driver issue.. so yes, it could be. Unless you try it, you'll never know.

If that doesn't sort the problem out, then you can eliminate the drivers and start looking elsewhere..

Cleaned drivers, made no diff :( this morning the same effect.

Couriers will be delivering my new mobo, cpu, memory and power supply today so will wait till I get that and then try it in a completely fresh install.

Wierd thing is its deffo only under low stress usage, last night I played wow for 3 hours and other than some random ICC **** that a few others had it was rock steady.
Is the 2D a diff part of the card from 3D, ie using diff memory etc?
