5870 Crossfire problem

I just finished installing a second 5870 card in my pc and there seems to be a problem.

The pc doesn't always boot up properly, usually freezing at screen with the windows logo and when it does finally boot up it almost always freezes after a few minutes.

It also won't display at the correct resolution, highest is something like 1400x900 when it should be 1680x1050.

I even had a blue screen one of the times, the error code was 0x0000009c.

I'm sure the cards are fitted correctly and have connected all the power cables and the bridge cable.

Specs:
Cpu: i7 920
Motherboard: Gigabyte X58A-UD3R
Ram: 6gb
Psu: Corsair TX 650w

Anyone know what the problem could be?

I was thinking that could be the problem but i did ask on here before buying the second card and was told that the psu was good enough.

Edit: Could the problem be the cables used to power the card? Theres only 2 6 pin cables on my psu so i need to use the 4 pin to 6 pin addaptors that came with the card.

Power supply should be fine.

'Despite our doubts after studying the interior of the TX650W it not only performed well but the power output and regulation is extraordinary. Corsair guarantees the TX650W to deliver 650W DC power at 50C degrees and it can clearly live up to these claims, as not only did it perform flawlessly up to its maximum output but it reached an insane output of 780W before the overload protection circuit shut it down. The voltage regulation circuit of the unit is also remarkably fast and quickly compensates when huge load shifts take place. The electrical performance of the TX650W is in one word, impressive. But it is not only the electrical performance of the unit which is impressive; the same exact thing can be said about its efficiency. No matter what the load percentage was, the efficiency never went below 83%'

Just tried each card separately and the monitor doesnt get a signal with the new card, though the fan on the card works. Think the card is faulty?

Must be faulty, exact same problem on another pc.

Also i noticed the edge of the card is darker, a bit black as if it's burned out or something, and when its on theres hot air coming from the back instead of cool air like the other card.

I just managed to get a signal on the new card, and the hot air coming out the back is now gone. Maybe i didnt have it seated properly when i tried it earlier.

Working now! Got both cards in and was asked to enable crossfire, never got that earlier. In the Catalyst Control Center, is it normal for it to display the fan speed, temperature etc for only one card in the overdrive section?

Edit: Restarting fixed that, is one card supposed to be a bit hotter than the other? One of them is 10-15 degrees hotter. Sorry for all the questions, first time using crossfire.
Only problem now is the display is in letterbox during bootup, not that much of a problem as it fixes itself when windows loads. Wouldn't mind a fix though, any ideas as to what could cause that?

Yeah, theres only about 5mm of space between the cards so i guess the top cards airflow is restricted by the bottom card.

But there is less of a difference in temps now, top card is around 35 degrees and bottom is around 30 when idle, I'm happy with that.
