Basically a problem that I used to have and which had disappeared has re-appeared and it makes me wonder wether it's a driver issue.

Approx 2 yrs ago got a BenQ 241W 24" monitor to find that every now and then the screen would go black for a second and then return (did not power down just went black for a second).
Read up to find that it was a known 'problem' according to some users. Tried swapping Dvi cable etc but no joy.
However as 4/5 dead pixels developed did a rma and BenQ did me an upgrade to a 241wz . No dead pixels.
Now am going to get a bit hazy as I cannot remember if the occasional black screen issue was no longer there or not - if it was it was certainly a lot less frequent AND was never an issue with my last gpu (260) but since changing for the current 5870 it's back and appears to be becoming more of a problem in that it seems to happen at least once but sometimes more after each turn on of the monitor/computer (they are not on permanantly).
Did note that first time around it seemed to occur more commonly when I was on the internet but this time may be doing anything - worktop/internet/gaming.
Any thoughts?
Am running xp home 32 + 9.11 drivers
