Okays, so I'm thinking to go to a tripple screen gaming rig, just for the hell of it really, but I'm a tad confused with the 5870 cards.

A standard 5870 2GB card would set me back £422.99, where as a 2GB Eyefinity edition 5870 is only £299. So that is my first question, why is there such a massive price differance between a standard and eyefinity?

Second, the Powercolor 5870 Eyefinity 6 is £299.99, where as the XFX is £399. Now according to OcUK Specs these cards are identicle, both have 2 year warranty, so again why the big price differance?

Lastly, any suggestions or tips for tripple screen gaming (Like, does BF2142 not glitch up with it. Can I use windows xp and a 5870; without DX10/11 ofc)

Thanks guys

you should be able to use it with xp but i'm not sure, if you have the money to upgrade to eyefinity i'd get windows 7 tbh lol

I think getting 2 5850's for £199 each would be a far better option than the £420 2gb 5870 (or get a 5970 for £26 more)

Hey thanks for the reply, I forgot to mention that I have a dual boot setup of windows 7 and xp just for playing Battlefield 2142 (Way to buggy under windows 7).

I just purchased a 5970 , which after debating it with the other half seems a much better solution. I bought the HIS 5970 which comes with a copy of Modern Warfare 2, which if you minus the cost of this and the return from selling my 4870x2 should bring the upgrade to about £270.

I will probs post back with my rantings on tuesday for those who are interested in buying a 5970.

nice choice :) mine was a pain in the arse for a while whilst i worked out how to set it up but once you get them set up right they are amazing cards

Yer should be fun to work out all the kinks. I'm buying one of the Active Display Port Adapters becuase none of the screens I am using (Asus VH222H) have DP's on them so not sure how that will work out

Damn me, I only just noticed how cheap the Powercolour card is going for! 300quid for a 2gb card? Go for it!

I originally bought the Gigabyte 1GB 5870, switched my order today to the Powercolor 2GB Eyefinity card. Exactly the same price. Should arrive tomorrow, I only use two monitors which do 1920x1200 and 1920x1080 and all the research I have done shows me that I can use the passive single link DVI adapters included to achieve up to 1920x1200 resolution (on up to TWO monitors, any more than two require native display port OR an active adapter). Hopefully that works out :)

I'm not going with a 5870 now, but rather the 5970.

I also just purchased another 4870x2 on the cheap which I plan to sell with my current one on ebay.

Right now in my system I have Dual 4870x2's + GTX280. With the 5970 I will have an 8800GT in there too simply becuase its just sat on a shelf.
