5870 eyefinity X-fire querey

Ok, so a friend of mine has a Sapphire 5870 eyefinity edition (this) he has it at a 900/4850 OC. The question is, will he be able to crossfire it with a 5870 2GB Toxic (this) and maintain the use of all of the RAM etc. He was thinking of underclocking the toxic (from its pre-overclock) to the 900/4850 levels. Would this work?
Also, which outputs would he have to use to run eyefinity from? Would he be able to have all three in the minidisplay ports of the eyefinity edition?
 
He'd be wasting a whole 1GB of VRAM which could not be addressed, but it would work. The Cards would be connected by crossfire bridge and outputs to the monitors would come from the top card AFAIK.
