5870 Fan Noise

Only had it less than a week, I am pretty sure it was silent the first few days and now all of the sudden the graphics card fan is making a annoying noise. its not extremely loud but you can hear it when its pretty quiet. it does it when its idleing and the woosh noise over powers it when the card is being used. It can be heard from 20-50% fan speed.

what should I do? I was looking at the zalman graphics cooler, but then thats another £40ish on top of £290 I paid for the card

also would the aftermarket cooler void the warranty?

I am now in contact with HIS about this, On the box it states removing the cooler will void the warrenty. So dependant on what they say I may well be sending it back for something else :'(

anyone else with the his 5870 Icooler getting this annoying noise which im pretty sure is the motor?

I've got the 5870 iCooler and aside from it being fairly "wooshy" under load, it's dead silent. idles at about 42-44c at 30% fan speed and my room is boiling.

I have the fan set to "auto" in Afterburner, if that makes any difference.

well i've played with the fan speed in ati catalyst and the noise is there from 34% upto 44% and it idles at around 34%-38%. I might have to rma it if others are dead silent

No more respone from HIS, so I've sent an rma enquiry to OCUK. hopefully I wont get it back again :S and get one thats quiet.
