5870 grainey blacks

just set up my new asus ati 5870 i installed the disc and checked my windows 7 score which gave me a 6, my old 4xxx series ati gave me a higher score than this so i went to ati website and downloaded the latest version of the software and drivers which instantly boosted my windows score to 7.1 now i know the windows experience score is not much to go off but i have also noticed the blacks are vairy 'grainey' the best way to describe it is like when there doing a special effect on a film to make the film look older. this only happens on blacks and the performance of the games are otherwise flawless ive yet to do some proper benchmarking but i want to get rid of this first, as i say i have the latest drivers my monitor is also brand new and is fine on all blacks appart from when gaming unfortunatly i have sold my old monitor so i dont have another one to test but wonderd what you guys thought

This is normal on films. You usually don't notice them on lower res films but on 720p/1080p they're more visible.

so the same could be said about cut scenes in games? there VERY visable to the point where its very much distracting. if its normal then i guess theres nothing more that can be done. do you think upgrading the dvi lead to hdmi?

naa, won't make a difference.

tbh unless the content has it right, the gpu isn't going to be able to render it perfectly

i see... well thats a little disapointing as it really is quite grainey still never mind at least i know theres nothing wrong.
