Okay, i got my 5870 from overclockers yesterday, got it home and installed, its running but i wouldnt say well, firstly i still get the Grey screen of death as it has been dubbed even with the hotfix drivers and my 3d mark score is very low compared with others, i barely get 18k most results i have seen are 20K++

Now my question is do i have a faulty card or is it a driver issue or what?

I have a i7 920 D0 on a Asus P6TD motherboard with 6GB of corsair memory, got a 850w Antec signature power supply, i have not overclocked the CPU at all as yet, dont see the need currently its performing beyond expectations.

Previously i had a 8800GTX i uninstalled the driver rebooted, checked with driver sweeper for remenants found some removed em and rebooted again, installed 10.1 rebooted then installed the 10.1 hotfix pack rebooted and ran the 3d mark, then i played WoW and Bioshock 2 and it grey screened in bioshock 2.

yeah Windows 7, you mean complete reinstall of the operating system to see if it works or just uninstall the drivers and install the hotfix drivers again?

3dmark 06, i will give it a go tonight see if that solves the problem, but currently im not exactly happy with the way its working so far

ok will give different drivers a go see if i can achieve a stable system and if i cant i will give a reinstall a go. doesnt take too long on windows 7 anyway to reinstall.

right, i have tried 10.2 and 10.3 and still gettting grey screens, this is frustrating me massively, im gonna try to reinstall windows 7 now from scratch and see how that gets on, if i still get grey screens on a clean fresh install with 10.2 drivers its definately something else thats wrong.

well i got the 8.703 drivers the beta releases and tried them still getting grey screens, i have tried lower clock rate and memory speed and its not good, now that someone is getting 18k on 3dmark 06 with a 5770 really suggests my card is broke :(

im going to reinstall windows tonight and if that doesnt do the business then im gonna send the card back for a refund and wait for fermi.

ok will grab the hotfix version see if that solves my GSOD problem, i can do it fairly well on demand now with the heaven benchmark DX11 thingy it always grey screens after i run that for awhile

just to update this one, installed the 9.12 hotfix tonight and its solid as a rock no crashes or grey screens in little over 2 hours of gaming, seeing as i had one every 30-45 min before thats an improvement will keep ya posted and thanks for the help and advice
