Okay so today i bought myself a tidy new 5870, went through with installing it.

Uninstalled old drivers in devmgmt.msc then switched off my computer and took out the old graphics card and installed the new. Put my display cable into the new card and turned on my computer and nothing! Nothing shows up in device manager either only the onboard 4200 graphics display D:

What i have done wrong? Have i missed something?

yup both 6 pins are in and im using a corsair 650 HXUK modular. Ahhh this is annoying. I've disabled the onboard and tried again but still nothing.

Do i have to use the other display ports or something?

It's just one single 6 pin which is split into 2 x 6+2 pin power connectors. I only used one.

Could it be Catalyst control center thats causing it? It didn't uninstall properly i think cos its coming up with errors saying incorrect display drivers etc...

Tried using those but still nothing. going to try using the molex adapters instead. The fan is just spinning at MAX but displaying nothing.

You could try one pci 6 pin to each of the cards and one molex to 6 pin for each of the cards.

Hmm dont really get what you mean, i only have one graphics card..

Unless you mean 1 molex to 6 pin and 1 x 6 pin to the card?

Yes motherboard bios, could have just been a faulty card as it would work sometimes.

Hmm i'll see if theres a update for my motherboard bios, this is turning into a nightmare :L

I just plugged in my old card and its come up with overclock fail :S, im starting to think this is a power consumption problem?

could there be a chance that the overclock i had setup on my mobo would cause a big drain on the psu? It's just when i rebooted with the old graphics card i got a overclock failure...

Uninstall drivers, reboot and let Windows install basic vga driver. Download latest drivers off Ati site, with CCC and let the install manager do what its meant to do. no need to do anything fancy.:)

I cant do any of that though because the motherboard doesn't even pick up the card so it displays nothing on screen what so ever. Even when i enable basic vga and go to device manager it doesnt pick up the new 5870 card at all

Could be possible, but that PSU is more than enough. How long have you had the PSU for?

only a month or so, surely its not borked after a month? It doesnt feel borked though.

I notice when i switch on my computer, the fan spins up, stops then spins up again at full speed?

I have done all of the above and still no luck, not really got anyone with a big enough power supply to run this card apart from mine unfortunately.

Would i be able to RMA this and get my money back?

Would i not be able to get my money back if i was not happy with the product? I read on OCUK's support page if within 28 days of purchase i'll be able to get a full refund...

Filling out a RMA form now. From what i've read on the Distance Selling Regulations (2000) if within 7 days of the purchased goods delivered to me i am eligible to get a full refund if i return the goods to OCUK headquarters.

Someone confirm me on that please.
