5870 or 6870

5870 has slightly better performance. 6870 has significantly less power draw. In terms of performance you should be comparing the 5870 with the 6950. The 6870 is more of a comparison with the 5850, of which you already have two!

Its not for me ,im upgrading my nephews pc, ive been looking at 5850 (£85) or a 5870, 6870 for about £100.

Looking at ur link 5870 gets 9 more fps in bc2, he will be mainly playing bf3 so maybe this is the way to go?

5870 is a great card, I'd like to get another for crossfire but very hard to find at a good price these days it feels like, I wish I bought a 2nd when they were on sale here for 150quid, didn't think they wouldnt be in the shop again after. I bought my 5870 soon after they came out at almost 300 pounds originally

If you can find reference 5850's which overclock like mad and crossfire them, they should still play things brilliantly and be good bang for buck.
