I currently have an Asus 5870. I am thinking of upgrading to a HIS iceQ 7850.
I will hopefully clock this but as there is less stream processors is this a good upgrade.
I will be gaming at 1920 x 1080 mainly playing new total war and cod when it is out. I might crossfire at a later date.
Any Thoughts.

edit: Also Arma 2 and 3

Personally, at 1920 x 1080 there is no point "upgrading" unless you have plenty money. All cards since the one you have (price vs performance) are just a "Sidegrade".

Its the reason my 5850 is still in my machine.

I'd wait personally until it is really struggling.

I've just been offered a 580 for around £140ish so might sell my 5870 and go for the 580, could probably get it for £50 upgrade.

If it wasn't for that i'd wait until you can afford more or until your card just doesn't cut it anymore. That's what i plan to do, even if i do a cheap upgrade.

Im considering an upgrade, but I wouldnt go with anything less than a: 7970, 7950, GTX 680 or a GTX670.

Personally if the GTX 670 is good and more affordable than the 680 might get one one those.

At 1080 - not much point upgrading unless your dissapointed with your current performance.

Maybe when the next gen card with a higher perf/price ratio are out

Otherwise, go on the MM and buy yourself a 2nd hand ati 6 series/ nvidia 5 series.

I think I am just getting the upgrade itch. I will leave it tell the next gen come out and see what deals are happening around that time.
I have been impressed with my 5870 I bought it on release day and it hasn't really struggled yet.
Thanks for the replies.
