I only play bf3 really and my 5870 plays it pretty well tbh, it clocks to 1050mhz on the core so it's pretty fast.

Would it be worth getting a 7850 as i only have a budget of around £200 or would i be better off getting an SSD?

A 580 would be the best upgrade you can get from the 5870 if a 670 is too expensive. Nvidia cards are better at bf3 than amd and even in other games, the 580 at stock will still be faster than your overclocked 5870.

Just got a Super overclocked GTX480, its roughly the same as a stock GTX580. It's much faster then my old 5870.

You should be happy.

I moved from a 5870 to a 7950 and the difference in BF3 was very noticeable.

If you check the reviews nvidia seem to perform favourably in BF3 so your 580 will not be far off the 7950 (I'm only using 1080)

Just loaded up BF3 to check fps compared to just before I took the 5870 out and I'm getting around 20-30 fps more than more with no drops at all when I zoom in with a sniper scope either, should be fun playing later although image quality does look a bit worse compared to the 5870 and there seem to be more jaggies too.

buy another 5870 and an SSD.

As I said a few posts back I got a 580 and an ssd :)
