Hi all my 5870 Vapor-X will only run when I down clock the card to the original clock speeds 850/1200 It should be 875/1250.

When the card is in the overclocked settings I get loads of problems artifacts on the desktop, game lock ups, BC2 Grey, white screens.

All of this worth an RMA? It's very intermittent and only does It now and again so I'm sure the card my come back to me tested fine.

Also The card is connected to my Benq monitor with an hdmi cable when the PC goes to sleep the monitor will not come back on unless I pull the cable out and plug It back in.

So far the card is running at 850/1200 with no problems but the hdmi one.

Thanks.

Lock a support ticket with Sapphire and they will send you a vbios to flash the card with. That's what they did for my friend. Should do the trick. Alternatively send it back to where you bought it and they will test it. However as the problem is intermittent it may get returned with no faulty found.

Thanks Flanno I'll do just that. CBA to send the card back as It works fine at 850/1200.

Never flashed a cards bios is It hard?

Dead easy to do. Sapphire tech will send you all the instructions and the files, even the ones to make a bootable usb stick. And they specifically say it wont void warranty as it's an official flash. You will need to go to the Sapphire site, register your card, and from there you can log a ticket. You just need to provide them with the sku no. and serial no which is on your the back of the card and your original box. Say what your problem is and ask specifically for a bios that can resolve the issue. In my friends case he was getting the odd Grey Screen of Death. The bios flash solved it. Unfortuately his is a 5870 Toxic so slightly higher clocks then yours. Otherwise I could email the files onto you.
