5870 - Which one?

Looking to order a 5870 tomorrow and just wanted to clarify a couple of things:

1. Is is just the the MSI and Asus cards that comes with the utilities to tweak the voltage on the cards, though you can flash the Asus bios on other cards (as long as its a reference model with volterra chips?) to allow this to happen as well. If using the MSI software there is a key you can change to enable unsupported overclocking and do the same and bypass limits? Both of these methods will work on all reference cards? I know the Asus rev2 has a voltage tweak utility too, is this different from the "normal" one?

2. Is it a case of pretty much a custom cooler will mean its non reference? I want to get a reference card as there is a specific EK waterblock I want to use and they don't make a v2 that looks the same.

3. if the above two are correct, then that would mean any card with the stock cooler can be overvolted and the card i choose will just depend on bundled goods/warranty? or can you get non reference PCB's with reference coolers?

Cheers guys

PowerColor HD5870 LCS, will give you all your looking for, but the bios is locked to under 1gHz (990 max). Stock 875/1250

It comes with the EK block fitted and looks great with the backplate on.

I have one, very happy with it, runs at 990/1350

I'm specifically going to be using the EK Nickel + Plexi block so cheers for the recommendation but will need to pass on that and just get a card

asus version 2 and matrix cards are out now with stock of the V2 already in some places.

both cards support voltage tweaking with the matrix srt at 900mhz stock

But neither are reference cards, which the OP needs for the EK block he wants. I've just ordered the Asus v1 for the same reason.

The LCS comes with the EK Nickel block you are looking for, you would only need to change the Acetal cover for the plexi one.

I looked for weeks for a version 1 card, and really glad I did, but there are not many around.
I got lucky and payed £299 for mine, bargain :)
