Whats the cheapest card you can get to run this set up? I curently have a 5870 (and dont want to sell it just yet :P ) So im looking for an nvidia card that supports PhysX. Any ideas?

9600GT ran batman AA like a champ for me

Mafia 2 is currently fine also on max settings, a little slowdown when you see a lot of birds on screen at once with their 'real' physx dresses on in the second epoch but mostly the game runs solidly at 60 fps

or sell 5870 for £215 ish, and buy a GTX 480 for £290 on MM...I assme that will do just as well as a standalone physx card?

Trouble is if he wants to upgrade from the 480 later to a 6870, he would still be in the same position as he is now.

Op maybe a cheap GTS250 green addition or something that doesn't soak up much power.
Some folks have tried using their old 8800's as PhysX cards but have removed them claiming they weren't worth the extra power consumption.

480 to 6870 surely wont be worth the change as he'd also then need a separate physx card and wouldnt get as much for his 5870.

As Raven said 480 is great for physx, is there anything on the horizon which is likely to challenge that?

OP what resolution are you gaming at?

I game at 1920x1200. Tbh i wouldnt really wana change the 5870 :( ive heard so much bad stuff about the 400 series (power and heat problems etc. :( and also i would love to get eyefinity soon.

ah well in that case if eyefinity is on the cards stay with 5870 until the 6870 comes out. You'll find with one 5870 some games will need the odd setting turned down to medium (Metro 2033 i'm looking at u!) but most are still OK on high provided AA is off or very low (e.g. BC2). Not sure how physx impacts at 5620x1200 cos i dont play any physx enabled games (AFAIK anyway :p).
